And just like that… it's back-to-school season already! Whether you’re excited for your long-awaited high school journey or nervous for what awaits, you’re not alone. Walking through those doors are hundreds of other students feeling the same way. To make the transition into your incredible high school journey even smoother, Leaders Collective is here for you! 

My name is Mariam Mohammed, and I am the 2025/26 Leaders Collective Director. I first joined LC in grade 9, and loved it more and more with each passing year. Outside of LC, I love hiking, exploring new places, and trying new foods! I have been on the collective for three years now, and it has turned out to be one of the most rewarding parts of my high school experience. 

Leaders Collective, or LC, is a student-run organization with around 200 members. LC is responsible for organizing various important school events, including LINKS, Parent-Teacher Interviews, and commencement. Not only that, but we also host programs like LConnect, where incoming students are paired with returning Haigers to help guide them at Earl Haig. From organizing events to answering questions in the hallway, every LC member is here to help you and ensure you feel supported. 

As a grade 9 student who only knew a handful of students in the school, the idea of navigating Earl Haig seemed daunting. I still remember my first time walking into the school, feeling lost in the hallways. Luckily, there were LC members present who were ready to offer a smile and lead the way. What I didn't realize at the time was that LC is not just a collective. It is a family of supportive executives, general members, and staff supervisors. Through LC, I gained invaluable skills and made new friends that I’ll carry far beyond high school. 

The best part? You have the opportunity to join us through the upcoming round of general member applications! Not only is it a great way to gain volunteer hours and have new experiences, but it is also an opportunity to join an incredibly supportive community of people who uplift and inspire one another.
