“Never forget that theatre is magic” - Ruthie Roy
From February 28th to March 1st, Ruth Watson Theatre became the stage for an entrancing spectacle, where friends and family gathered to be transfixed by four captivating performances. With tales of villainous teenagers, shattered families, haunted chambers, and sinister witches, each production promised an unforgettable journey into the world of enchantment and fascination. The curtain rose with “Mighty Marvin and the End of the World”, an alluring performance crafted by Audrey Moore, directed by the talented Ruthie Roy, and supported by assistant stage manager Max Gundogdu. As Marvin, the teenage mastermind with his loyal "minion" Tommy, played by Matthew Sharrett, schemes to take over the world, Max Segal's portrayal of Marvin brought laughter and delight, leaving the audience at the edge of their seats. Following this, “House on Fire'', a touching narrative from the minds of Andy Atzema and V Riczker, directed with flair by Rachel Abramovich, and expertly managed by assistant stage managers Max Hughes and Julia Schwartz-Manne. This tense portrayal of a wealthy family navigating grief and their torn relationships with one another evoked emotions that left viewers with a heavy heart long after the final curtain fell. “Lights Off”, written by Eva Stoitchkova and proficiently guided by director Jonah Kaplun, with the brilliant Bianca Bisnath Belisle as assistant director and Isabelle Wise as assistant stage manager, wove a tale of sibling dynamics with a paranormal twist. Rem Ramlogan and Tyler Yeung brought Abby and Ryan to life with their skillful dramatisation and strong stage presence.
Ending the show with a bang, “The Witch, The Witch, and The Witch”, crafted by Rachel Abramovich and brought to life by directors Eva Stoitchkova and Nicole Kulzhabayeva, with Jaslene Alamos and Karen Peng as assistant stage managers, promised a dark and twisted fairytale. With wretched royalty and child- eating witches, the cast delivered performances of chilling legitimacy of their characters, leaving spectators gripped till the very end.

What was your favourite part of One Acts: Vendetta?
“There were so many good moments, but to choose just one I would say my favourite part of One Acts was probably all the downtime everyone spent before show days. Everyone getting into their costumes, makeup and hair done backstage, well in this case upstairs, was such an energetic vibe. Those few hours before showtime all the different casts and crews can just bond and laugh with each other.” - Alaleh John, Mom in “Lights Off”
"My favourite parts from One Acts this year involved the excitement of being part of the production team for the first time. As head stage manager, many of my responsibilities included assisting our directors and producers and facilitating clear communication and organisation across all 4 plays.
