Mel Lastman Square is set to transform into a magical winter wonderland with the return of Holiday Fair in the Square, one of Toronto’s most beloved seasonal events. Running from December 1st to 23rd, the square will be filled with holiday lights, festive music, and a variety of attractions for all ages. This popular event brings thousands of people together to share the magic and traditions of the winter season.

Holiday Fair in the Square will feature a variety of activities, including intricate light displays and a bustling holiday market to a holiday-themed midway. The midway will include numerous classic carnival rides, such as a Ferris wheel, carousel, and mini-train rides, adding an extra touch of excitement for thrill-seeking families. The dazzling light installations, complemented by the towering holiday tree at the square's centre, will create a perfect seasonal backdrop.

A highlight of the event is the Artisan Holiday Market, where local vendors sell handmade crafts, ornaments, and unique holiday gifts. Shoppers can browse items like candles, scarves, jewellery, and artisanal treats; all while supporting local artisans.

Of course, no holiday event would be complete without Santa Claus, and Holiday Fair in the Square delivers with its very own Santa’s Village. Here, children can visit Santa, share their holiday wishes, and snap a keepsake photo with him and his elves. The village also offers seasonal crafts and storytime sessions, making it a favourite spot for young families.

Food trucks and booths line the square, offering seasonal treats and warm comfort food. Hot cocoa, poutine, roasted chestnuts, gingerbread cookies, and savoury holiday- themed pastries are only a few of the delicious options available. Additionally, Holiday Fair in the Square will offer free ice-skating sessions at an outdoor rink surrounded by festive lights. Skate rentals are available, allowing everyone to join in on this classic winter activity. Skating under the twinkling lights, surrounded by holiday decorations, is sure to create unforgettable memories for families and friends.

Entertainment will be non-stop, with live performances scheduled throughout the event. Local choirs, bands, and carolers will fill the square with holiday songs, while performers on stilts and holiday-themed costumed characters interact with the crowd, adding to the enchanting atmosphere. Expect to see a Winter Fairy, Snowflake Princess, and holiday elves bringing a touch of whimsy to the festivities. The lineup also includes brass bands and solo musicians creating an uplifting musical experience for all attendees.

This year, the event organisers worked hard to make: Holiday Fair in the Square accessible and enjoyable for everyone— entry to the square is free. With its variety of attractions and entertainment options, the fair is open daily, so visitors can stop by day or night.

Whether you’re looking for holiday shopping, thrilling midway rides, family-friendly fun, or simply a scenic winter walk, Holiday Fair in the Square has something for everyone.
